The low melting point and high boiling point of this element makes it the perfect metal to be used in space based engine controls, where temperature ranges are great. Certain gallium compounds are excellent semi-fluxors, and have been used extensively in rectifiers, transistors, laser pulse generators and energy pulse generators.
